Review of Altitude (PC)

on Monday, December 20, 2010
Altitude, 2 dimensional shooter produced by Nimbly Games. It's a refreshing display of what the new shooter generation is like. Only this time, it's too addicting to forget.

All nice and cute, this game turns rapidly into a monstrous deathmatch or free for all in the middle of a radioactive factory map. You get this part for $2. The aerial fighting is very arcade, but you can lose speed and stall rapidly if you don't accelerate enough in an uphill, which can be problematic if you were in the middle of a shootout while holding a bomb in the middle of enemy territory. $1 for that. Ever heard of Call of Duty? Well, the perk system is in this game too and can give every plane a special style in combat and different resistances or weaknesses. 1 more buck. Multiplayer with many servers and tons of options. How about $2 for that? You can make your own maps and even host a server very easily. $1. A bunch of game modes, a handful of planes, a bunch of different skins. $2 too much? Last of all... There's a demo, and it's indie. 1$.
Add it up, yep $10 for a really nice, indie with a great graphic style. I think you should definitely try the demo before you play the game which can be downloaded at their website: http://altitudegame.com/ <--- (Clicky) , you're welcome. If you like it, (which i'm sure you will) keep playing. If you love it, take out your credit card.

Have a nice day and... HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!1!!1!
Now, get shootin' would 'ya?

First Looks: Greed Corp (PC)

on Friday, December 17, 2010
"Once upon a time, in a land of milk and honey"

Greed corp is a Turn-Based Strategy game from W!Games with a nice artistic style and a small twist on things.

You can choose 1 of 4 factions, all with very different storylines and campaign modes. Using Walkers, cannons, carriers and a good strategy, you can lead your nation to victory. The main plot is simple, you are in a beautiful world in the skies, building civilizations on small islands. After a long time of peace, the world starts to quake, islands fall to the abyss under the clouds. You must lead your faction and control what is left of the land while preventing your own from sinking to ensure your nation's survival.
When you start the game, you are presented a map with hexagonal islands and a few walkers. You can use the walkers to control more terrain and destroy the opponent's walkers as well as capturing buildings. You can build an armory to produce more walkers. Here is the thing though, the islands you are building on, can be destroyed rapidly. The terrain has different layers of land that can be used strategically to dominate the battlefield. Harvesters can bring you great amounts of resources, to the cost of sinking your whole domain or even your opponent's. The terrains divide into different parts to a point where you need to use carriers to invade the opponent's islands to jump over the gaps. And that's when the interesting part begins. Filled with explosions and strategy, good graphics and a solid concept. It's worth the money and... it's indie!

Have a look!

Check this out! Wakfu beta

on Friday, November 26, 2010
I know I know! I'm late on my posts! I had a pretty busy week and I only got back very late so I couldn't post.
I was about to make a review for another spaceship game but I'm gonna take a different style of game this time.

So, many of you might know Dofus, an MMORPG where you take on the role of an adventurer that belongs to 1 of the 12 different classes. You explore, run around killing fantasy animals from cute to monstrous. Wakfu is the sequel. Situated 1000 years after the Dofus age, a giant ogre conquers the whole world. A massive part of the world of Dofus is submerged in water because of him. And the 12 gods have summoned you to take back the 6 Dofus eggs that can grant the owner any wish.

The gameplay is great and the graphics are amazing. This game is still in beta but you can register now and take part when it opens. There already have been tons of open betas but they were all very glitchy. They changed most of the things halfway through the making of the game but they are progressing really well on the game.

Check that out and take also a look at Dofus.

Review of Flotilla

on Monday, November 22, 2010
Flotilla...
Flotilla is a very interesting game. You get to control a bunch of starships in a 3d environment where special maneuvers, tactics and strategies rule the game. The top of the ship and the front has strong armor, making the gameplay even more interesting. A strong point in this game is its adventure mode. Lemme tell ya 'bout it!

The adventure mode is funny, nicely done, and is in a style close to the "Choose your own adventure". You start with 7 months left to live and you travel from star to star in the galaxy, gaining cargo, fighting cruisers and becoming a karaoke champ. The music is random but somehow fits the game in its own way in the destruction of the ships in the vast, cold depths of space.

Anyways I think you should play it. There isn't much content but it's an interesting game with a nice twist on things.

Review of Trackmania United Forever

on Thursday, November 18, 2010
Trackmania... I think this one is pretty much one of the best racing games... ever...

I mean seriously, you might wish you were still a small kid, playing with your toy cars, going through tunnels and jumping off impossible cliffs all the while sliding on ice and passing over houses and hills. From countryside racing  in the sunrise to skidding in the streets of a massive sky-scraper-filled city at night, from realistic, heavy cars to a crazy, 500 km/hour beach race. This game HAS IT ALL!!!1! You can race on 7 different environments where the cars all act completely differently in a totally different landscape. This game is also expected to live for a LONG time since you can create your own tracks through a massive range of objects and roads, decorations and buildings.

^^ Bay, this is urban life baby! These cars are quick and adherent which can lead to very fast tracks while keeping a really nice turning speed.
In this game there is everything you need to keep you hooked for at least a whole year. The never ending, user-created content runs your envy for more driving. You can also make movies directly from the game. You record a ghost car that you will drive, modify the camera, put shaking, text and effects, smooth travelings through your favorite race and BAM! There you go, an epic racing movie.

You also have a stunt mode, where you need to use jumps and other objects like a simple ramp or rock to create insane barrel rolls for points. Obviously, this has multiplayer and an AMAZING COMMUNITY! There are many dedicated people who make tons of videos and great tracks. They even make modes that can modify the environment completely, without mentioning the customizable cars and 3D models you can make. For the cherry on top, there is even AN INTERNAL BROWSER! You can go onto these mini websites called "Manialinks" and buy things with money (coppers) that you get from playing every day to buy maps and new cool cars.

BAH! Screw those ratings! Im outta here! Gotta clean my wheels before the race! ;)

Homeworld 2 Review

on Wednesday, November 17, 2010
BOO! Am back! And with something really nice to show ya!

Homeworld 2... I think this is one of the best if not THE best RTS I have ever played.

Homeworld 2 is a space 3D RTS set in a world of peace, until a war breaks out. Starting now, your life will be changed. The second of the Homeworld series, and certainly the best, you take on the role of commander of an army, starting the game with a single Mothership, a carrier, and a few resource collectors near an asteroid field, you must destroy all of the enemy's capital ships.
Homeworld 2 will shoot you up in space in intense battles where you control a Hiigaran fighter squadron, to a massive Vaigr Battlecruiser. You must produce starships and collectors that feed on nearby asteroids to bring you resources in order to do research, building, send ships into hyperspace ect...

The game has also a carrer included, which consists of a dozen episodes in which you control a fleet of a forgotten race, The Hiigaran, and bring them back to their homeland. The plot is very developed and forces the player to use different tactics and strategies at his advantage to win the game. For example, a bomber can destroy larger ships but can also target subsystems, which are used to produce and unlock abillities, research or build even better fighters. In order to do that, IMP bombs need to be produced through the research module.

The graphics engine in this game was extremely advanced for it's age considering this game has been around for a while, and they are still very stunning when you watch a gigantic mother-ship disintegrate before your eyes, leaving pieces of junk lying around, ready to be collected by your own resource collectors.
Great game, full of memories and I am sure you will have a lot of fun playing it not only against the computer, but with your friends either online or with Hamachi, an application that creates an LAN between users.

Story- 9/10 I'm amazed... The cinematics are breathtaking too and could stun the crap out of every player out there.

Gameplay- 10/10 Yup, this game is full of options and has 2 very different races you can play every time.

Graphics- 9/10 Amazing graphics.... I don't know what to say...

Sound and music- 10/10 The soundtrack is amazing and there are also many voices for every ship "response" and "construction finished".

Overall rating 9/10 Don't be mad at me but this game  NEEDS THE THIRD IN THE SERIES! If there was a third one out already, I would put 10/10. This is definitely a MUST PLAY for any RTS lover or even any space battle fan in this world.

Review of Vendetta online

on Monday, October 25, 2010
Rainy day means gaming day!

That's why I love rainy days, because all i get to do is to escort massive convoys, destroy hive bots and participate in large scale wars. Vendetta online is a fast-paced space shooter (yeah yeah I know, I'm a huge fan of space shooters) that has a nice mix of arcade battles and realistic fighting. The combats are very dynamic and there are many things that make this game special. First of all, you have to shoot in front of the ship so that the shots will collide with your enemy. For that, you get a smaller reticule that shows you where to fire. That's not all,  the controls are special too and can be changed from airplane behavior to a completely different fighting style in which you can dodge in all different directions.

While the graphics are not top notch, they still are good and very nice to the eye even though it's not what you will pay attention to when you play system-scale warfares. In the game, there are 3 nations you can join. One of them is the Itani nation which is the nation that is in war against the Serco. The Serco themselves, powerful space-faring nation that fights against the Itani. And there is also the UIT, a trading nation. The UIT is welcome in all systems of the galaxy and they wallets are usually the biggest source of interest. While there are missions that are formed with patterns, the game remains highly non-linear meaning that you can be anything you want from pirate to miner and from millitary officer to trading leader. This game has it all. There is a trial version that consists of 8 hours of play, you can ask around for "friend keys" which give you a 14-day trial after you enter the code. Or else the fee is only around $9.99 USD per month which is acceptable for this high quality game.

Story- 7/10 Good storyline overall and every station has its own history that fits nicely into the game.

Gameplay- 8.5/10- Gameplay is well developed and very flexible, allowing the player to use his own imagination to be whatever he wants.

Graphics- 7/10 Frankly, 7 is the lowest I could ever give for this. The graphics may be painful for some but they are mostly well done and polished.

Sound and music- 9.5/10 -Very, very nice sounds and soundtrack. The sounds are very nice and contain a lot of good details like the sounds that the missiles and bullets do when they pass by you as well as when they hit. The soundtracks merge you even more into the game and feeling that is meant to be given.

Overall rating-  8/10

Review of League of legends LOL

on Thursday, October 21, 2010
What's happening peeps!

LOL is what's happening! Yeah you got it right, League of Legends.

League of legend is an RPG-RTS style game in which you have to control a character with multiple abilities. Your goal is to destroy the opponent's Nexus, the building that allows him to control his champion. Your champion has many different abilities and spells and masteries as well as runes and marks. But you cannot do this alone, other summoners (players) will be there to help you as well as minions which will take damage for you and help you fight. Whether you are and archer, a swordsman or a spell caster, you will be promised to have the experience of your life (not really).

Alright, so this game was suggested by a friend who sadly, tried to split from her addiction to the game. Whilst this game is difficult, it's rewarding to play as well as being very addicting. When you play a game, you have the choice between doing a 3vs3 or a 5vs5, once a game has been found, you proceed to the champion choosing screen where you decide what character you use as well as what runes and spells you will use. Once you enter the game, you are spawned at the summoner platform where you can regain energy and access to the shop. In game, when you kill minions and other champions, you receive gold and XP which will go towards you character level. You can use the gold to buy better equipment or by buying multiple objects to make a much stronger piece of equipment.
Most games last from 20-40 minutes which may seem lengthy but happily, you will be able to reconnect to the game very easily if you are disconnected or left for a little moment.

Story 9/10- Strong storyline overall and good stories for every character.

Gameplay 7/10- Gameplay is well thought of and well constructed although it might be a little annoying at first.

Graphics 9.5/10- Strong point also, the 3D graphics are very well done and are very nicely polished. The settings and objects are very well made as well as the fluid animations of the characters.

Sound and Music 8.5/10 The sounds are good... Nothing special on this side since they are not a very important part of the game.

Overall Rating 8/10- Great game overall even though it may be deceiving at first since the matchmaking system is rough until you start losing a lot of games. Even with that, this game is very good and I recommend you play it. The fans of DotA will Love this one.

Review of Alpha and Omega

on Monday, October 18, 2010
Hey peepls!

Today, I'm gonna make my first movie review for this blog.
Last week, I wanted to watch a movie for Thanksgiving. So I jumped in inside the local cinema at 636
Gardiners rd Cineplex Odeon, not knowing what i was gonna watch.
I Looked at the list of movies at the counter and I bought a ticket to watch Alpha and Omega.

First I thought it was going to be something bad like Open Season but I was surprised when I came out of the theater. The whole movie was pretty outstanding and was not an "Little Kids" cartoon even though the end was predictable, and the plot was pretty well done. The whole cartoon itself was not only hilarious and very nice, it also made me want to buy a second ticket to watch it again. I know, I know, it's pretty weird for a movie that is not even close to being as nice as Avatar or other great movies but I liked it. You should go and take a look!

Story 9.5/10 Very nice plot and I really liked the way it was touching and at the same time very funny.

Graphics 8.5/10 The 3D was very good compared to the other ones I have seen before and I thought it was neatly done with no graphical errors. The textures and movements were pretty good too which I liked very much because the action scenes were pleasing to watch and there was a big difference compared to the more calm scenes that had a magical tone.

Music and Soundtrack 7/10

Overall Rating 8/10

Review of Infinity: The Quest for earth

on Thursday, October 14, 2010
Now THIS is a game.

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3muhlQYFgLE&feature=related&fmt=22

This game could be the next domination of my life, it's absolutely amazing. This game alone is powered by an extremely powerful engine called the I-Novae. It can make seamless transitions from space-to-planet, something that makes my mouth water.

For some info, this game is not out yet and is in very early alpha. There is a prototype on the website that is only for combat: http://www.infinity-universe.com/ This game is made by one man but there are some dedicated members who help with textures and graphics.

Review of Air Rivals/Ace Online/Flysis/Space Cowboys

on Monday, October 11, 2010
What's happening peeps!

Today, I'm gonna talk about a multiplayer 3D action game where you can fly on 4 different airframes called "gears". The 4 different gears are very different. The I-Gear (Idle Sniper) can fly at amazing speeds and can outrun most missiles. B-Gear, a bomber that deals solid amounts of damage. A-Gear, a mobile ground turret that uses a siege mode, very strong damage. And finally, M-Gear, a support gear that can use skills such as "radar" and other area buffs. The story is about 2 factions that fight each other, BCU (Bygeniou City United) and ANI (Anti-Nationalist Influence) with raging battles to take control of the planet surface.

The game is free to play with the optional cash shop for XP boosts ect... 2 problems in this game though. The first one is that there is a Winsock error that can appear anyday and it will prevent you from playing. The ships will disappear even though on your screen, you will still be flying. There are a lot of suggestions on the forums on how to fix this, but I gotta say, this game hates all OS except for XP. I was one of the unlucky people that got this error and it prevents me from playing. The second problem is that the players are all pros that have high level gears which can be intimidating, but if you follow the guides given in the forums, they will give you many options and you can feel your character growing fast! Between the intense fights and wars, defending strategic points, destroying motherships, and killing bosses, this game packs a massive punch of gameplay but sadly lacks attention from the devellopers. This game was hosted on different servers with different names such as Flysis, Air Rivals, Space cowboys online, Ace Online ect... And has regular updates and happy hours for you to enjoy.

Story: 7/10 Well constructed storyline about 2 factions that battle each other, tons of missions to complete with rewards etc...

Gameplay:  9.5/10 Incredible PVP battles and hierarchy system with commanders in chief, chief of staff, brigade wars, the 2 factions that battle, squads and voice chat. Extremely fast and rewarding gameplay. Grinding is pretty important until you reach lvl 40.

Graphics: 5.5/10 Terrains and textures are mediocre but the gear details and explosions along with missile graphics are great.

Sound and Music: 8/10 Good music for every map and that can be very easily changed by putting your favorite songs in the music file, includes a music player. Sounds are great, different for every type of weapon and engines, very nice atmosphere.

Overall rating: 8/10 Great game, if you are looking for fast-paced 3D battles, this is the place to look. Gameplay will hook you up but I have to tell you something important, follow the guides in this forum: http://board.airrivals.net/index.php?page=Board&boardID=19&s=1f7252f2f8aa09e46795c3b314fa7ff0d99b38b2, as much as you can since it will allow you to rise up in levels much faster and will make your build much more efficient for a better experience.

I recommend you watch both trailers.

Review of Subspace/Continuum

Subspace/Continuum

Subspace is a multiplayer space combat game that involves skill more than anything. You can fly in one of 8 ships that are all extremely different and have specific tactical abilities.

In this game, you can play different styles of games depending on what arena or zone you are in.

-Flagging
In this mode, you have to take control of the flags and keep them safe for a certain amount of time. It involves tactics for defense, attack, flanking, rushing and many other important techniques that are important in order to master the game.

-Powerball
Space sport that mixes intense dogfights with a ball that has to be shot into a goal. This game mode is different and involves less killing than other game modes.

-Warzone
Warzones are what they are, total warfare. Deadly bombs will be flying and the bullets will ricochet all over the place. Not for the light hearted but one of the most common and fun zones to play in.

Story- NA

Gameplay- 10/10 Totally addicting and extremely fast-paced, this is one of the most high placed gameplays I have seen. One in a googolplex

Sounds and music- 4/10 The sounds are decent but there is no music except for one and it's fairly annoying.

Graphics- 6/10 The graphics are OK, but they are pretty advanced for that time and even with those graphics, this game is a bomb.

Overall rating 7/10

Gameplay is what it's all about, yes sir! This game is amazingly addicting and if you are a fan of fast-paced combat. This is it. This game was made a while ago, but it will surely stun all of the hardcore players out there. Have a nice flight!
