Review of Altitude (PC)

on Monday, December 20, 2010
Altitude, 2 dimensional shooter produced by Nimbly Games. It's a refreshing display of what the new shooter generation is like. Only this time, it's too addicting to forget.

All nice and cute, this game turns rapidly into a monstrous deathmatch or free for all in the middle of a radioactive factory map. You get this part for $2. The aerial fighting is very arcade, but you can lose speed and stall rapidly if you don't accelerate enough in an uphill, which can be problematic if you were in the middle of a shootout while holding a bomb in the middle of enemy territory. $1 for that. Ever heard of Call of Duty? Well, the perk system is in this game too and can give every plane a special style in combat and different resistances or weaknesses. 1 more buck. Multiplayer with many servers and tons of options. How about $2 for that? You can make your own maps and even host a server very easily. $1. A bunch of game modes, a handful of planes, a bunch of different skins. $2 too much? Last of all... There's a demo, and it's indie. 1$.
Add it up, yep $10 for a really nice, indie with a great graphic style. I think you should definitely try the demo before you play the game which can be downloaded at their website: http://altitudegame.com/ <--- (Clicky) , you're welcome. If you like it, (which i'm sure you will) keep playing. If you love it, take out your credit card.

Have a nice day and... HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!1!!1!
Now, get shootin' would 'ya?

First Looks: Greed Corp (PC)

on Friday, December 17, 2010
"Once upon a time, in a land of milk and honey"

Greed corp is a Turn-Based Strategy game from W!Games with a nice artistic style and a small twist on things.

You can choose 1 of 4 factions, all with very different storylines and campaign modes. Using Walkers, cannons, carriers and a good strategy, you can lead your nation to victory. The main plot is simple, you are in a beautiful world in the skies, building civilizations on small islands. After a long time of peace, the world starts to quake, islands fall to the abyss under the clouds. You must lead your faction and control what is left of the land while preventing your own from sinking to ensure your nation's survival.
When you start the game, you are presented a map with hexagonal islands and a few walkers. You can use the walkers to control more terrain and destroy the opponent's walkers as well as capturing buildings. You can build an armory to produce more walkers. Here is the thing though, the islands you are building on, can be destroyed rapidly. The terrain has different layers of land that can be used strategically to dominate the battlefield. Harvesters can bring you great amounts of resources, to the cost of sinking your whole domain or even your opponent's. The terrains divide into different parts to a point where you need to use carriers to invade the opponent's islands to jump over the gaps. And that's when the interesting part begins. Filled with explosions and strategy, good graphics and a solid concept. It's worth the money and... it's indie!

Have a look!
