Review: Battle Dawn:Galaxies

on Sunday, January 16, 2011
Turn-based strategy game on your browser, but this is one of the best qualities I have seen so far. Easy to handle but tough to master, only you can lead your alliance to victory. Filled with strategy and great simplicity, I have spent a lot of time playing this one and had tons of fun leading an alliance with my friends.

In this game, your empire is aiming at being the strongest in the world. You must forge and alliance, fight and use cunning tactics to overpower the others. In order to win, you or your alliance must collect all of the relics, which are basically moving bases that you need to capture. This game is set in space unlike it's predecessor which is on planets and different eras (Mars, Earth, Fantasy). There are 45 upgrades for building and 27 units with beam, concussive and explosive weapons. The interface is great and refreshing as well as being very well organized. Going along with the game is a dozen of ambient songs that add a lot to the feeling of supreme commanding. You can rapidly dive into the action and build a great empire with dozens of missile silos, gates, radars and remote training bases and outposts all under your command. Forging alliances with others and relocating to avoid the bigger predators is imminent to avoid being conquered by the bigger fish in the sea. You will always be able to strike back and rebel against your conquerer. You can organize with your alliance buddies and try to take over your worst enemies throwing remote missiles and armed-to-the-teeth squads.

A great game, I can only love it.

Review: Super Laser Racer

on Tuesday, January 4, 2011
Brother to Geometry Wars, Super Laser Racer is an arcade racing game developed by New Star games and is a perfect example of a simple racing idea, polished into a high-quality racing game.

It's easy to play, but it can get tough, mines and missiles are exploding across the maps while some others might just want to get the best time to go on top of the leaderboards. It has a good replay value and great graphics that look like this is a relative of Geometry wars (it is). Getting good times or dynamiting everyone are paths to victory. You can jump into a dozen of ships to choose from including some to unlock through tournaments and races.

One big element in this game is the map editor. Lacking tutorials but not too hard to use, it gives the game a much greater replayabillity value and a longer life. With lots of blocks to choose from, you might just have a lot of fun. I heard someone say once "This game is like cigarettes, it's too addicting, and you might just lose your lungs to it, that is, being stuck to your seat".
There are also some really nice achievements ranging from blowing up multiple ships as you explode yourself to winning big tournaments and doing clean races. It's a nice little coffee break game as well as a very competitive, leaderboard-based game. A few bucks, a good racing game with more purpose than just to make minutes tick by.

If you want good racing quality, light graphics, a pit stop and weapons, then play this.
